Writing to Broadway This Week

Mood: Dramatic. :-p Or something. I’ve been writing to broadway music instead of my usual anime or background movie. Sometimes, I even leave a mix of broadway on shuffle. Now, that gets dramatic.

Here’s an example:

  1. Too Much Exposition
  2. Move On
  3. Someone to Watch Over Me” (Did you know that was originally ragtime?)
  4. Popular
  5. Cellblock Tango
  6. I’m All Alone
  7. Somewhere That’s Green
  8. Get Me to the Church on Time
  9. Stars
  10. Oh My God, You Guys!

Some of those transitions are painful, aren’t they?! By all rights, I should be really distracted by some of those changes. I haven’t been though (well, only occasionally). I guess I’m feeling pretty focused this week. That, or I know the songs so well the contradictions aren’t really registering.

I should keep track sometime and see if the style or mood of my writing varies by what I’m listening to. Then, I could change music to help me write different scenes.

Assuming it works that way. It would be interesting to see that it doesn’t really change, too, but it wouldn’t be as helpful. C’est la vie.
